Dozens of government workers got paid by mistake — and feds took money back

A handful of furloughed federal workers reportedly received their paychecks amid the government shutdown on Friday — but Uncle Sam quickly worked to get the money back.
The checks were sent to about 30 workers from the Chemical Safety and Investigation Board in Washington, DC, in addition to two workers from the Interior Department, according to The Washington Post.
The agency that processed the payments, the Interior Business Center, realized the mistake and alerted the workers not to use the money, the paper said.
“PLEASE DO NOT ACCESS THE FUNDS,” read an email to the furloughed employees. “We are working with IBC to determine how to remedy this situation and it is best if you don’t access the funds.”
The Interior Business Center spent Friday freezing the deposits so they could not be accessed, the paper said.
As for the hundreds of thousands of other employees who are furloughed, they did not receive and checks as planned.
